Mckenzie Method

About this Service

The McKenzie Method is a mechanical approach to treating joint related impairments such as limited range of motion, pain with range of motion, or pain with basic functional tasks. Originally developed by Robin McKenzie for treating spinal related dysfunction leading to leg or arm pain, it has broadened to include all joints in the body. We utilize the McKenzie approach to treat lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and so on. The Mckenzie Method has been and continues to be well researched in respected journals throughout the physical and manual therapy communities.

Once the Assessment is completed, a directional preference to movement is established and a treatment plan / HEP is implemented. This approach is extremely effective if the patient is diligent regarding the daily recommended practice of the technique and is open to modify certain activities to minimize painful loading through the joint being treated.
